Each legislative session, we at the Minnesota Justice Research Center push for policies that reflect Minnesotans' priorities for public safety, community wellbeing, and justice. As this year's session begins, we are excited to share brand new, statewide data that reveals exactly what we knew to be true: Most Minnesotans, across political lines, want to see major changes or a complete overhaul to our criminal legal system.
It also gives us helpful insight about perceptions of safety and causes of crime and voter opinions on specific policies, including one that would make our pretrial system more transparent and one that would improve sentencing outcomes for victims of sexual violence. We invite you to dig into our visualizations of the data below, and consider what this data means to you, and how we as agents of change might use these insights to fuel the work ahead.
Methodology:
Conducted by UpOne Insights; *Questions were not written by MNJRC*
Statewide Survey of MN conducted from October 28 - November 3, 2025
