About the Conference
Our annual Reimagining Justice Conference is an inspirational convening of a broad diversity of criminal legal system practitioners, scholars, advocates, impacted persons, and community members. Through speakers, panels, and interactive conversation, we create the space to network and learn from efforts to bring the criminal legal system closer to a true justice system.
In past years, elected officials have joined the convening, including Governor Tim Walz, Lieutenant Governor Peggy Flanagan, Mayor Melvin Carter, and state legislators from both sides of the aisle. We've also heard powerful speeches from renowned justice leaders including Dr. Shawn Ginwright, Briana Payton, and Desmond Meade.
2026: Reimagining Democracy
Each year after the conference, people tell us they walked away feeling hopeful. This hope powers us to believe that a better system is possible. In 2026, we are pausing our regularly scheduled program to focus on channeling that hope to get people more engaged with our democracy.
This election and every election, justice is on the ballot. From a new Hennepin County Attorney, to judges, sheriffs, the Minnesota Attorney General, and prosecutors across the state, the people we vote in will have a direct hand in shaping what justice looks like in the years to come.
From a door-knocking effort to get out the vote in historically Black neighborhoods to a resource fair for justice-impacted voters, we're hitting the ground running to make sure Minnesotans are civically informed and engaged for November's election.
