About the event

The Minnesota Justice Research Center is partnering with the Minnesota Department of Human Rights to conduct community engagement sessions to gather ideas from community members on what should be included in a consent decree to address race-based policing in Minneapolis.

The recent release of the Minnesota Department of Human Rights’ findings of racial discrimination by the Minneapolis Police Department (MPD) and the City of Minneapolis has shed light on the harmful patterns and practices of the MPD. To community members, much of this information is not surprising. However, these findings present an opportunity for meaningful change to occur through the negotiation of a consent decree with the City. We want to hear from you.

Our collective work is to engage a diverse and vast group of community members in Minneapolis directly and gather as much feedback and ideas as possible to help shape a consent decree. We want to know how community members would like to see their values and selves integrated into the agreement and how they are thinking about changes to policing culture and practices.

Join us for a community engagement session for food and dialogue.
