Just Lead Fellowship Kickoff + Information Session

For too long, those most impacted by Minnesota's criminal legal system have been left out of the very decision-making processes that shape it. The Minnesota Justice Research Center aims to change that, starting with our brand new Just Lead Fellowship. The 13-month program for justice-impacted individuals will develop participants' leadership skills and capacities, helping them to harness their firsthand knowledge of the system to prepare them for leadership positions on state boards and commissions.

We've purposely chosen to launch this fellowship on Juneteenth—a day that commemorates the liberation of enslaved people and the ongoing journey of Black Americans to leverage their power in a society built on their disenfranchisement. We recognize that in Minnesota, where the criminal legal system continues to disproportionately harm Black communities, there is a lot of hidden power in government boards and commissions that make consequential decisions.
