About the event

Almost two years ago, the Minnesota State Legislature asked the the Minnesota Justice Research Center to study our state's pretrial system – everything that happens between arrest or citation and the resolution of a criminal case. Our research team traveled across the country to learn from attorneys, judges, and advocates who have transformed their pretrial systems. We reviewed research to identify best practices and understand where Minnesota’s system is failing. We talked to people who work in the criminal legal system. And we talked to community members like you.

Please join us in Rochester on May 3rd, 2025, for a report share-back from our research team. You can expect:

  • a discussion of MNJRC’s findings on Minnesota’s current pretrial and bail practices

  • a data walk to explore evidence-based recommendations to redesign the system & promote safety, liberty, and equity

  • an opportunity to connect with community & learn how you can continue…
