The Less is More: Community Supervision Revocation Reform Act was signed into law in New York State on September 17, 2021 and took effect on March 1, 2022. The #LessIsMoreNY campaign to draft and pass the law was co-led by Unchained and the Katal Center. These two organizations are now working to ensure it is implemented properly and protect it from rollbacks or repeal.
Panelists Emily NaPier Singletary (Co-Executive Director of Unchained), Brian T. Shaw (Unchained Member), Kenyatta Muzzanni (Director of Organizing at the Katal Center), and Anthony Maund (Member of Katal) will discuss problems with parole supervision in New York State prior to Less is More, and the work that must continue after a law is enacted.
